Does Colorado City's own trash service affect a private roll-off?
Colorado City runs its own collection and disposal, according to the regional solid waste plan, so there is no private trash franchise there. We didn't find the city code text on private roll-offs, so we confirm every address inside Colorado City limits before booking.
Rural Mitchell County addresses outside the city are a different matter: we deliver there for cleanouts, roofs and ranch jobs. Source: WCTCOG Regional Solid Waste Plan, Vol. II, Table III.H.I, checked Oct 22, 2026.
Can anyone dump at the Colorado City landfill?
The Colorado City Landfill is open to city residents and rural Mitchell County residents and businesses who show their latest water bill. Fees are by weight, loads must be covered, and hazardous waste is refused. The regional plan lists it as permit 420A, with very little capacity left in 2019.
Because that landfill had about one year of capacity left at the plan's count, check whether it is still taking loads before planning trailer runs. A roll-off avoids the question: we haul the load to a permitted scale, and the ticket comes with your invoice. Sources: City of Colorado City, Refuse & Solid Waste; WCTCOG plan Table III.C.I.
What should you expect from older Mitchell County buildings?
Colorado City's history includes an oil refinery that ran from 1924 to 1969, and many buildings date from that era. Old plaster, heavy tile and stacked roof layers weigh far more than modern materials, so size older-building jobs by weight, not by how full the box looks.
Heavy debris belongs in a 10-yard or 15-yard dumpster, filled halfway. Light, bulky loads fit a 30-yard. Source: Colorado City, Texas.
Mitchell County dumpster questions
Which size fits an old Colorado City house gut?
Plaster walls and old tile are heavy, so a whole-house gut often uses a 30-yard dumpster with 4 tons included. One or two rooms usually fit the 20-yard.
Do I need to tarp the dumpster in Mitchell County?
Covering an open load keeps rain out, and rain adds weight you pay for. Our driver secures the load for the road, but a tarp overnight saves money on wet days.
Can you bring a dumpster to a cabin on Lake Colorado City?
Lake cabins are in range when there's a flat, firm spot near the road. Give us the lake road and a landmark, and keep any gate open on delivery day to avoid the $125 dry-run fee.
How long can I keep a dumpster this far out?
The 10- to 30-yard rentals include 7 days wherever you are. Extra days are $25 each, booked with a phone call.
