How often do storms damage roofs around Abilene?
Damaging hail and wind hit the Abilene area often enough that repairs come in waves. On April 24, 2011, softball-size hail fell across south Abilene. On April 1, 2024, baseball-size hail broke home windows in Hawley, and an EF-3 tornado struck Hawley in May 2024, the National Weather Service reported.

What size dumpster do you need for storm repairs?
A hail-damaged roof replacement usually needs the 20-yard dumpster, with 3 tons included, or the 30-yard dumpster for large or two-layer roofs. Fence, siding and gutter replacement fits the 15- or 20-yard dumpster. Water-soaked drywall and carpet weigh more than dry debris, so count on heavier loads.

The dumpster invoice comes with the certified landfill scale ticket attached, emailed 3 to 5 business days after pickup. The scale ticket shows the gross, tare and net weight of the debris hauled from your address. You can file both with your storm repair paperwork. Your adjuster decides what the policy covers.

What storm debris can go in a roll-off?
Shingles, decking, fence boards and posts, siding, gutters, broken windows, wet drywall, carpet and pad, and damaged furniture can all go in a storm cleanup roll-off. Concrete fence footings go only in a 10- or 15-yard dumpster. Hazardous chemicals, wet paint and batteries can't go in at all.
A fridge or freezer ruined by a power outage goes in for $50 because of its Freon. Keep the load level with the top rim and tarp it if more rain is coming, since soaked debris weighs more on the scale.

How soon can I get a dumpster after a hail storm?
Book by 3:00 PM and the dumpster arrives the next day between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Same-day delivery carries a $50 rush fee and depends on an open truck, and trucks fill fast after a big storm.
Can I book now for a repair date weeks away?
Book as soon as your roofer or contractor gives you a start date. Ask for delivery the day before work begins, so the dumpster is ready when the crew arrives.
Can fallen tree limbs go in with the shingles?
Ask on the call before loading limbs and brush with storm debris. We'll tell you whether your mix of limbs and building debris can share one box.
What if my street is blocked by debris on delivery day?
If the truck can't reach the drop spot, a $125 dry-run fee applies. The driver calls 20 to 30 minutes ahead, so tell us about downed limbs or wires when you book.
