Which dumpster size fits a construction job?
The 30-yard dumpster fits most home additions, new builds and gut renovations, with 4 tons and 7 days included. The 20-yard dumpster suits smaller framing, siding or interior jobs with 3 tons included. Concrete, block and brick from the same site go in a separate 10- or 15-yard dumpster.

How do dumpster swaps work on a long build?
A dumpster swap means our truck hauls the full box to the landfill and drops an empty one in the same spot. Each swap is billed as a new rental with its own 7 days and included tons, so every load is weighed and ticketed on its own. Call when the box is close to full.
If the job only needs more time, keep the box past day 7 for $25 a day instead of swapping. Ask for a swap a day ahead when the debris level nears the top rim, because nothing can ride above the rim on the highway.
Each load's certified scale ticket is attached to its invoice, emailed 3 to 5 business days after pickup. That gives you a weight record per load for job costing.

A construction dumpster goes on firm, level ground on the lot, close to where the crew works, with a straight path for the truck. The roll-off truck typically needs about 60 feet of straight approach and about 23 feet of overhead clearance. Keep the spot clear of material deliveries and parked trucks.
Mark the spot with paint or a flag, or send the driver a note. The driver calls or texts 20 to 30 minutes before arrival, and no one needs to be on site if the spot is open. A blocked spot means a $125 dry-run fee.
Soft or freshly graded dirt can rut under a loaded box. Pick compacted ground or a gravel pad. More detail is in dumpster placement and space needed.
Which rules apply to construction debris?
Three federal rules come up most on construction sites. OSHA 29 CFR 1926.252(a) requires an enclosed chute when debris drops more than 20 feet outside the walls. The EPA asbestos NESHAP, 40 CFR 61.145, requires inspection before demolition or renovation. Refrigerant must be recovered from appliances before disposal under 40 CFR 82.155.

- Asbestos: suspect materials such as old floor tile, pipe wrap and some siding must be inspected first, and above set amounts the regulating agency gets advance notice. Asbestos-containing waste does not go in a roll-off. 40 CFR 61.145 on ecfr.gov (checked Oct 21, 2026).
- Appliances with Freon: fridges and AC units go in for $50 each, because the landfill handles refrigerant appliances separately.

What does the City of Abilene ask builders about dumpsters?
The City of Abilene lists short-term construction debris as the only exception to its rule that City Solid Waste collects all solid waste inside city limits. A City Building Inspections memo also asks builders to contact Solid Waste at 325-676-6053 when they hire a dumpster provider. Construction debris roll-offs inside Abilene fit that exception.

Can I keep a construction dumpster on site for a month?
A dumpster can stay as long as the job needs. The first 7 days are included and each extra day is $25. On busy sites, a swap every week or two keeps the box from overflowing.
Can concrete and framing scrap share one dumpster?
Concrete, block and brick go only in our 10- and 15-yard dumpsters, filled no more than halfway. Keeping heavy debris in its own box also keeps your 30-yard from hitting its 4 included tons early.
Do you deliver to sites outside Abilene?

How fast can I get a swap?
Call by 3:00 PM and the swap runs the next day between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Same-day swaps depend on an open truck and carry a $50 rush fee.
What happens if my crew overfills the box?
Debris must stay level with the top rim, because Texas law bars hauling an overloaded container. If the box is overfilled, the driver can't take it, a dry-run fee applies and the extra must come out first.
