The City of Haskell Landfill (TCEQ permit 1604B) is the closest permitted landfill to town, but the regional plan estimated only about 1 year of remaining capacity based on 2019 data. Haskell County had a rough 2024. On February 2, an EF2 tornado with peak winds near 115 mph damaged a home and outbuildings near Sagerton. On April 8, a 67 mph gust near Haskell knocked down power poles while 1- to 2-inch hail fell in the county. Storm repairs fill 20- and 30-yard dumpsters.
